When visiting the airfield, especially during the summer months, it is essential to bring along a good sun hat, sunglasses, sun block cream, food snacks and lots of drinking water. A small selection of beverages and snacks are available for purchase from the club house. You can also purchase food and beverages in Uitenhage, which is about 5-10 minute drive from the airfield.
Should you be prone to motion sickness then it is also advisable to take some medication prior to flying.
While every effort is made to accommodate visitors, it must be understood that the EP Gliding Club, is a club and as such, the people on duty, such as the timekeepers, marshals and instructors are all volunteers. Furthermore, there are also students who are still learning to fly and only have Sundays available for this.
Gliding is by nature, subject to the cooperation of the weather and therefore the launch time and duration of the flight cannot be determined beforehand. An understanding of this will help to alleviate possible frustration at having to wait around for several hours. The daily "flight list" is drawn up on a first-come-first-served basis and activity normally starts at the airfield at 09h00 in summer and 09h30 in winter.
